Khurshid’s comment is humiliation for an SC leader like Kharge: BJP

Bhopal: State BJP president VD Sharma on Thursday launched a scathing attack on senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid for his statement on AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.
“In a democracy, this amounts to humiliation of the national president of a big party like the Congress. Mallikarjun Kharge is also a leader of the scheduled-caste community,” VD Sharma said. Before Bharat Jodo Yatra enters Uttar Pradesh, Salman Khurshid has made yet another statement which has left the party red-faced.Replying to a question during an interview, Salman Khurshid said, “Our leader is the Gandhi family and it will remain that way. Mallikarjun Kharge has been appointed to run the party. We needed a full-time leader to run the organisation, who will focus on the workings of the party.”
On December 26, Khurshid had given another statement comparing Rahul Gandhi to Lord Ram and calling him “superhuman”. However, he later denied having made such a comment.
VD Sharma on Thursday argued that Khurshid’s statement on Mallikarjun Kharge reveals his refusal to accept the Dalit leader as the national president of the Congress party. “If he has been appointed the party’s national president, then it means that he is the leader of the party. When a leader from the SC society has been elected president of the party, then some persons make him a dwarf before the Gandhi family,” VD Sharma claimed. TNN
