Khargone election results 2024 live updates: BJP's Gajendra Singh Patel wins
NEW DELHI: Khargone Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 29 parliamentary constituencies in Madhya Pradesh, central India. Established in 1962, this constituency is reserved for Scheduled Tribes and encompasses the entire Barwani district and part of Khargone district. Khargone, an important city in Madhya Pradesh, acts as a natural route connecting the northern and southern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The 2024 election for the Khargone Lok Sabha seat took place during the fourth phase on May 13, with a voter turnout of 76.03%. The key candidates for the 2024 election are Gajendra Patel from the BJP, seeking a third consecutive victory, and Porlal Kharte from the Congress, a former State Tax Officer and social worker.
Currently, the political scenario in Khargone favors the BJP, bolstered by the influence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party's organizational strength. The BJP's campaign focuses on development and Hindutva, which resonate well with the electorate. In contrast, the Congress struggles with organizational weaknesses and faces a tough battle to mobilize voters effectively.
Key issues in Khargone include communal tensions that erupted in 2022, leading to divisions along religious lines. Gajendra Singh Patel of the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious, securing 819,863 votes, an increase of 135,018 compared to the previous election. Porlal Batha Kharte from the Indian National Congress faced defeat, receiving 684,845 votes, which is a decrease of 135,018 votes. Devisingh Nargave, representing the Communist Party of India, also lost the election with 14,686 votes, a significant decline of 805,177 votes. Shobharam Dawar from the Bahujan Samaj Party could not secure a win, obtaining only 12,069 votes, a decrease of 807,794 votes compared to the earlier election. Narsingh Solanki, an independent candidate, lost the election with 9,058 votes, a decline of 810,805 votes. The NOTA option received 18,257 votes, which is a decrease of 801,606 votes from the previous election.
In the 2019 general elections, Gajendra Umrao Singh Patel of the BJP won with 773,550 votes, representing 54.19% of the total votes. His closest competitor, Dr. Govind Mujalda of the Congress, received 571,040 votes, accounting for 40.00%.
In the 2014 general elections, Subhash Patel of the BJP won with 649,354 votes, capturing 56.75% of the votes, while the Congress candidate, Ramesh Patel, secured 391,475 votes, making up 34.21%.
