Kabir Bhajan & 21-gun salute at Dhrupan maestro Pt Ramakant Gundecha's funeral

BHOPAL: Bhopal bid adieu to Dhrupad maestro Padmashree Ramakant Gundecha with Kabir Bhajan and a 21-gun salute by police at Bhadbhada crematorium on Saturday.
Noted artistes of the city went to the crematorium to pay their last respects. Former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the home of Gundecha brothers at Professors' Colony before the funeral. Pt Ramakant Gundecha's son Anant performed the last rites in presence of the elder brother of the Dhrupad duo, Umkant Gundecha, cousin Akhilesh Gundecha and his students.
Biding adieu to their 'Chote Guruji', around 50 students present at the funeral sang Kabir Bhajans, with tears streaming down their faces.They sang 'Jheeni Chadaria', 'Hum sab mahi sakal hum nahi' and 'Shankar Girijapati' and prayed for his soul.
Principal secretary, culture, Manoj Shrivastava, who attended the last rites, said, "I am saddened by the sudden disappearance of such a great star, who was shining so brilliantly on our horizon."
