Journalist accidentally killed while cleaning father's rifle in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district

BHOPAL: A journalist lost his life while cleaning his father's single-barrel licensed rifle in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district on Saturday.
Abhishek Saxena, 34, accidentally discharged the loaded 315-bore rifle, resulting in a severe head injury that proved fatal.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene in Darpan Colony area for investigation.They are currently examining whether the incident was an accident or a suicide.
Abhishek Saxena was a resident of Darpan Colony LIG quarter in the Thatipur police station area. He operated a marriage garden and served as the editor of a monthly magazine.
At the time of the accident, other family members were present on the second floor of the house while Abhishek was cleaning the rifles downstairs. When they heard the sound of firing, they rushed downstairs to find him lying on the floor, and the room was covered in blood. The police surmised that Abhishek either accidentally shot himself while cleaning the gun or mishandled the weapon.
Forensic expert senior scientist Akhilesh Bhargava examined the spot and indicated that the incident was an accident. Both rifles and necessary cleaning supplies were found at the scene, further supporting the accidental nature of the event.
The police reported that the shot hit the wall, resulting in blood splatters throughout the room. Abhishek Saxena is survived by his wife and a four-year-old son.
Police said that the young man's death appears to be the result of an accidental gunshot while cleaning the rifle. Further actions will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
