Jabalpur dengue cases: Penalty, if larvae found at home
Jabalpur: In the wake of increasing dengue cases in Jabalpur city, the district administration has launched a drive to curb the mosquito-borne viral disease.The directive issued by the municipal commissioner states that if larvae are found at residential places, then fines will be imposed on the responsible individuals.Recently, there have been reports of three suspected deaths due to dengue in the city, though the health officials denied it as the confirmatory tests for dengue, mac-ELISA tests, of these patients were not done.Jabalpur Municipal Corporation commissioner Preeti Yadav has issued instructions to divisional officers, assistant health officers, chief sanitation inspectors, sanitation inspectors, and divisional engineers to conduct continuous inspections to prevent infectious diseases.During the inspections and visits, if water accumulation and larvae are found in institutions, homes, or vacant plots, then spot fines ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 5,000 on the owners and operators would be imposed.If multiple larvae spots are found at the same site, orders have been issued to impose fines of up to Rs 50,000.The municipal commissioner has appealed to the citizens of the city to not keep bottles, utensils, cages, coolers, pots, old tyres, or any containers where water can collect or remain stagnant. A warning has also been issued that fines will be imposed on those found violating this appeal.
