The passengers, all residents of Banaras, Uttar Pradesh, had visited Maihar to seek blessings from Maa Sharda and perform the mundan (tonsuring) ceremony for the infant, Rudra Rawat. Unfortunately, the child succumbed to injuries during treatment at the hospital.

According to the police, the car lost control while trying to avoid a tractor coming from the wrong side, causing it to plunge off the flyover. The accident left nine people injured, with three in critical condition.

The injured passengers—Priyanka Kumari, Neha Devi Chaurasia, Indu Patel, Pankaj Kumar, Prabha Devi, Priya Devi Rawat, Akriti Kumari, and Prakriti Kumari—were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Amarpatan.

Due to the severity of their injuries, four individuals were referred to Satna Hospital, including the three-month-old child, who sadly did not survive.

The police have launched an investigation into the accident, and efforts are underway to locate the tractor driver. Preliminary findings suggest that the tractor driver's wrong-side manoeuvre led to the fatal crash.
