: A day after DSP GL Ahirwar was shot dead at his house in Awadhpuri locality, police on Thursday arrested four accused, including Himanshu Pratap Singh and three of his accomplices.
Himanshu was nabbed from
Vidisha district
around 1.30am, while he was trying to escape in his car. His three friends were also arrested, for allegedly disposing the pistol used by him in Shakti Nagar nullah after the incident. They were booked on charges of causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to veil the offender.
SP (South) Sampat Upadhyay said that Himanshu, (26), a resident of Police Lines in Nehru Nagar, told police that he found objectionable messages sent by deceased Ahirwar on his mother's mobile phone and got angry over it.
He then went to his house and asked him about the messages. A verbal spat ensued between them and he shot him.
Upadhyay said after committing the murder, Himanshu gave the pistol to his friends

, (25), of Shakti Nagar. Cops have recovered the murder weapon.
Upadhyay said that cops suspect that the motive of murder was something else and Himanshu was misleading the cops. Police will take him on remand and interrogate the actual reason behind the incident.
He said that Himanshu had committed crimes before and his case details were being investigated.
Himanshu shot Ahirwar in the chest point-blank on Wednesday sometime after 7 in the evening.
