The inquiry committee probing into the reasons that led to the roof collapse at Kashurba Hospital’s female surgical ward is likely to submit its report by May 6.

May 6. Executive director (ED) BHEL Shashi Ranjan Prasad told TOI, “The report is being given final touches by the committee. We’re also consulting some experts on the matter.” Citing reason for the delay in submission of the report he said, “The report is taking time as the matter is serious and we don’t want to complete it in haste. Civil engineering experts from IIT Roorkee have been roped in to give their opinion.” “It is expected to be presented by Monday,” he said. However, since Prasad would be out of town till Tuesday, it may not be discussed before that. On April 26, a portion of the roof of the female medical ward of Kasturba Hospital, collapsed killing two and injuring 25.The committee comprising experts from department of structural engineering, MANIT and other experts is being chaired by D K Dikshit, general manager (quality) BHEL, Bhopal. The probe team would also tell whether the rest of the hospital building is safe for use.
