Helmetless biker rams into divider, dies

Bhopal: A 28-year-old helmetless youth was killed while his friend was severely injured after their bike rammed into a divider near Smart City hospital on Smart City Road in Shyamla Hills locality past midnight on Thursday. Both sustained injuries and were rushed to Smart City hospital where one of them was declared brought dead. Investigation officer ASI Dinesh Mishra said that the deceased Shiva Sahu, a resident of Peer Gate area, worked in a private firm. He along with his friend Shivam, 27, a resident of Gwal Mohalla in Roshanpura, was returning home from Depot Square towards Polytechnic Square through the Smart City Road by his bike. Around 1.30am, when they reached near Smart City Hospital, Shiva lost control over the bike and rammed into the road divider. The locals rushed them to hospital where Shiva was declared brought dead while Shivam sustained severe injuries including a fracture in leg and was undergoing treatment in critical condition. Both were not wearing helmet at the time of the incident. Shyamla Hills police have registered a case.
