The petitioner Vikas Vasnik said that posts of professors, associate professors and assistant professors were advertised in April 2022. No post was reserved for the physically-challenged persons in the vacancies advertised and the backlog posts of SCs/STs/OBCs were also scrapped.

The petitioner added that the university founded to conduct research on Buddhism and propagate its teachings is doing something different. The designation of posts decided by the culture department of the state government has been changed.

Principal secretaries of higher education, culture department and registrar of the Sanchi university have been made respondents in the case.

Following initial arguments, the vacation bench of Justice Vivek Agrawal and Justice P N Singh issued notices to respondents seeking a response. Advocate Deepak Kumar Singh appeared in the case on behalf of the petitioner.
