HC notices to officials over forest land encroachment

Bhopal/Jabalpur: A division bench of MP high court issued notices to respondents on a public interest litigation (PIL) alleging encroachment on 10 acres of forest land on the outskirts of the Bhopal city. The bench of chief Justice R V Malimath and Justice Vishal Mishra further asked to present the petition for final hearing before the court.The petitioner Chandrabhan Singh Dhakad had alleged that forest land measuring 9.80 acre at Chandanvan area of Bhopal has been encroached upon and a boundary wall has been constructed on the land by a group registered with firms & society office. A written complaint was lodged against the society on alleged encroachment, but no action was taken by the authority concerned due to influence wielded by persons who run the society.The forest department admits to encroachment but has also recommended allotment of land to the society, he said. Advocate Dhruv Verma appeared in the case for the petitioner. Following hearing of the case on Tuesday, the division bench issued notices to respondents including principal secretary, forest, CCF and DFO, Bhopal, collector Bhopal, the society concerned and persons who run the society. tnn
