BHOPAL: The MP high court, Jabalpur has taken suo motu cognizance of a story published in Times of India about a farmer at Sendhwa in Barwani district who had donated land for construction of
anganwadi centre two-and-a half years ago but the building has not been constructed as yet.
The division bench of chief justice R V Malimath and Justice
Vishal Mishra, while referring to the story and pictures as carried in TOI, said "We deem it just and necessary to take suo motu action on the paper publication and to treat the same as a public interest litigation (PIL).”
The court also directed that the chief secretary of MP government, collector, Barwani, CEO, district panchayat Barwani, tehsildar Sendhwa and divisional project officer concerned and women & child development department should be arrayed as respondents in the case.
The court asked deputy advocate general Amit Seth to take notice for all the respondents and to file a reply within 2 weeks.
