The petitioner Varsha Dubey said that she has been working as an assistant professor at DN college since 2006. Despite having a PhD degree her salary is only Rs 10,500. She had moved the high court seeking to claim the benefits of Sixth Wage Board.

Following this, the college management served her a one-month notice for termination of her services. The reason cited in the notice is that she is a science teacher and there are few students in the science stream. She has made principal secretary, higher education, Rani Durgavati University, DN Jain college management and the principal of the college a party in the petition.

After initial arguments, the bench of Justice M S Bhatti issued notices to all the respondents seeking a response to the petition.
