Panse is an accused in the horrible Multai incident that took place in September 2007, where a settlement of Pardi community was set on fire. Bordu Pardi and his wife Dodal Pardi were killed in the incident. The incident was probed by CBI at the behest of M P high court. CBI had registered a case against nine persons. The CBI special court ordered to register a case against eight more persons including Sukhdev Panse, then SDM Dinesh Sakkle and Raja Pawar.
Panse and other seven accused had moved the high court against the special court order contending that accusing them in an 11-year old case solely on the basis of statements of some people from Pardi community was not fair. The CBI had thoroughly probed the case and gave them clean chit, they argued. The court, however, exonerated then SDM Sakkle but rejected petition of the rest of seven accused for exoneration.
