Had sacked honeytrap accused’s husband in June, says Cong
Bhopal: The state Congress on Wednesday said that Amit Soni, whose wife Barkha Soni has been arrested in the high-profile honeytrap case, was sacked from the party on June 15, 2019, for “anti-party activities”.
Amit was vice-president of the state Congress social media and IT department when he was removed from all posts. On Wednesday, soon after the honeytrap scandal exploded on media channels, Pradesh Congress released his sacking orders of June, signed by chairman of PCC social media and IT department, Abhay Tiwari. “Vice-president, social media and IT department of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, Shri Amit Soni is hereby removed from social media and IT department along with all other responsibilities and committees with immediate effect,” the letter says.
Chief minister Kamal Nath’s media convener Narendra Saluja told TOI, “The honeytrap case is a big revelation. Action will be initiated against all those involved, whether influential or not. No one will be spared. The women arrested by police have connections with BJP. If the name of an incumbent Congress office-bearer or leader’s name surfaces during investigation, then action will follow.”
