Patel also flagged off the Jagriti Rath on the occasion, besides administering ‘energy conservation pledge’. A street play based on Saksham Abhiyan was performed in the programme. Saksham Mahotsav launch programme was organized at Model Higher Secondary School, Bhopal under the aegis of ministry of petroleum and natural gas and Petroleum Conservation Association.
The governor said that participation of society in the efforts of the government is the key to success. “It is generally seen that parents save money for the happy future of their children but ignore environment, while the future of the next generation can be secured not by money, but by healthy and clean environment. Mahatma Gandhi had said that the earth provides enough resources to satisfy every man’s needs, but it cannot satisfy every man’s greed”, he said.
He said with this spirit of Bapu, PM Narendra Modi is leading the world to give the legacy of a clean environment to the future generation. The governor said that the Prime Minister is working on the target of making the economy net zero by 2070 by reducing carbon intensity of the economy by less than 45% by fixing the five commitments of Panchamrit. Efforts are being made for self-sufficiency in all the districts through the network of compressed gas and compressed biogas, he said.
