According to the police, suspect Mohit had rendered Vivek unconscious by administering some kind of a drug or sedative, cut him up and concealed the pieces in polythene bags before burying them. Vivek, a resident of Ganga Colony, operated a popular grocery store on BG Road. On Wednesday morning, he and his son Rajkumar were at the shop. Around 11 am, Vivek left for home but never arrived. His family launched a frantic search, but there was no sign of him. Eventually, they reported Vivek's disappearance to Kotwali police station. Police teams began looking for him and on Thursday found his scooter abandoned near Singwasa Pond.

This discovery provided crucial leads and the police investigation zeroed in on Mohit, Vivek's cousin from his mother's side. Initially, Mohit attempted to mislead investigators, but he eventually broke down and admitted to the crime, said police.

Shockingly, the accused executed this gruesome act within the premises of his brother-in-law's government quarters, say police.

According to Mohit's confession, he buried the dismembered remains of Vivek approximately 50 feet from the national highway, along a road leading to Gopi Sagar Dam. Police say he used an autorickshaw to transport the parts to the burial site, where labourers had already prepared pits for disposal.

Police arrived at the site around 8 pm on Friday and began digging up the site indicated by the suspect. Vivek's body parts were found in three pits. Police meticulously collected the various pieces and transferred them to the district hospital for postmortem examination. A panel of doctors conducted the examination in front of cameras on Saturday. tnn
