Goons led by ‘absconding gangster’ fire shots & brandish swords at 2 spots
Bhopal: Around half a dozen masked accused on bikes allegedly created a ruckus in the Chhawani area in Mangalwara early on Tuesday. They reportedly brandished swords, hurled abuses at the locals present in the area, and fired shots in the air with pistols. Locals alleged that notorious gangster Zuber Maulana and his accomplices committed the incident. They also vandalised vehicles at the spot.Later, the group approached Indira Nagar in Teela Jamalpura and committed a similar incident, brandishing swords and opening fire with pistols before running away. Mangalwara police, acting on the complaint, registered a case on charges of rioting and firing shots in the air. A similar case was registered at Teela Jamalpura police station. The incident was being linked to a rivalry between Zuber Maulana and another history-sheeter, Saad Khan, but police did not confirm it. Senior cops maintained that they were verifying the involvement of Saad Khan and ruled out any gang war theory. A search was on to nab the miscreants. It was alleged that Zuber Maulana, who was officially listed as ‘absconding' by city police for the past six months, managed to execute these violent acts while on the run. The incident raised serious concerns about law and order.Police said that Saad Khan, a history-sheeter from Mangalwara, was recently released from jail. He has a longstanding feud with Zuber Maulana. Saad's ancestral home is located in Chhavani, where his mother and relatives reside, though he currently lives in the Aishbagh area in Bhopal.Around 3.30 am on Tuesday, masked men riding on 5-6 bikes approached the Chhawani area. They were alleged by locals to be Zuber and his gang. They vandalised more than half a dozen vehicles parked nearby. The act created panic in the neighbourhood before the suspects fled the scene. Both Mangalwara and Teela Jamalpura police have registered separate cases and launched a search for the accused.ACP Rakesh Baghel confirmed that the incident was reported in the Chhawani area around 3.30 am and then in Indira Nagar in Teela Jamalpura around 6 am. As of now, Saad Khan has denied any direct involvement in the incident. Police have registered cases against Zuber and his accomplices, and a search was on to nab them.
