Gold fraud racket busted, inter-state gang held
Jabalpur: Four members of an inter-state gang, all from the same Haryana-based family, have been arrested for allegedly duping victims of nearly Rs 1.75 crore by luring them with promises of buried gold. Police said the accused posed as labourers who had discovered hidden treasure and used genuine gold coins to build trust before supplying fake gold in exchange for large sums of money. The gang was tracked to Jhansi and arrested, with cash, gold coins and fake gold biscuits recovered during the operation.The suspects, all from the same family and residents of Haryana, were nabbed from Jhansi.Police seized assets worth about Rs 1.75 crore, including Rs 1.55 crore in cash, 84 grams of genuine gold coins, 20 kg of fake gold coins and 11 mobile phones.
