Gas agencies in Bhopal and Indore to remain open today

BHOPAL/INDORE: In a bid to ease LPG consumers woes amid supply crunch, district authorities in Indore and Bhopal, on Saturday, directed all booking agencies to remain open on Sunday.

Bhopal district collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh said that all gas agencies were directed to operate on Sunday and distribute cylinders as per normal rules so that consumers do not face any inconvenience.





The administration also urged residents not to panic or resort to stocking extra cylinders, assuring that adequate arrangements were made to maintain regular supply.

District administration in neighbouring Indore also issued a similar direction.

"Following strict directives from Collector Shivam Verma, agencies will continue booking, refilling, and delivery services as usual," District Supply Controller ML Maru said. In another move to allay mounting fears of an LPG supply squeeze in the state, officials said cooking gas cylinders would now be delivered within 2.5-3 days of booking.

"Oil companies informed us that domestic LPG cylinders will be supplied within 2.5-3 days of booking. They also informed us that the capacities of their servers were enhanced to ensure seamless online booking.

The availability of LPG cylinders is adequate and there is no reason to panic," Commissioner, Food and Civil Supplies, Karamveer Sharma told TOI.
