Fraudster nabbed with forged DD in Habibganj

Bhopal: A Karnataka-based man, allegedly approached a nationalised bank branch in Manisha Market on Monday morning to deposit a fake demand draft of Rs 33 crore. The officials informed the branch manager about it. When the manager, on suspicion, checked the DD, it was found to be forged. Acting on complaint, Habibganj police registered a case against the accused on charges of fraud and forgery and arrested him.
SHO Habibganj Manish Raj Bhadouria said that the complainant Bhagwan Singh Yadav is manager of a nationalised bank branch located at Manisha Market. He stated in his complaint that on Monday morning around 10.30am, a man named Prabhudevti Trihatrinath approached the bank to deposit a DD of Rs 33 crore. The officials got suspicious on spotting such a high amount on the DD.
When he checked the DD was found to be a fake. So, he immediately informed the police.
During interrogation, the accused told police that he hails from Karnataka and the forged DD was given to him by a Delhi based businessman. Further investigations were on.
