Former sarpanch killed by robbers in Rajgarh dist

Bhopal: Unidentified miscreants struck at a house in Rajgarh district and allegedly killed former sarpanch before fleeing with gold and silver jewellery kept in his house along with the cash and a rifle. The wife of the former sarpanch was also injured in the attack. The incident took place about 6 km from Sarangpur police station in Rajgarh’s Kacharia Purohit village. According to the police, the robbers, who sneaked into the house of the 85-year-old Bapu Singh from the back side at around 2 to 3 am, attacked him and his wife, Ladkunwar Bai, (82), with a a heavy stick. The injured wife has been referred to Bombay Hospital Indore after initial treatment at Sarangpur.Banesingh's son Rajendra Singh said that about 20 tolas of gold, 5 kg of silver, two rifles and cash worth lakhs of rupees were missing from the house. After getting information about the incident, Sarangpur police station in-charge Ashutosh Upadhyay reached the spot. SP Virendra Singh from Rajgarh reached the spot with a dog squad and fingerprint expert.“The couple had been attacked with a heavy stick. We are looking for clues and hopefully the accused would be arrested soon,” said the SP, adding, “The back door was probably open, as no signs of forced entry were found. This seems to be the work of an outside gang, which we will soon nabbed.”SP gave necessary instructions to Talen police station in-charge Umashankar Mukati and Sarangpur TI Ashutosh Upadhyay.
