BHOPAL: The
Covid-19 vaccine
will be received in four locations in
Madhya Pradesh
— Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior — and then distributed to other districts.
“We have not received the vaccine anywhere so far. Most likely, day after tomorrow,” said MP additional chief secretary, health, Mohammad Suleman.
The health department will first ensure the vaccines are delivered to remote areas, and then urban centres will stock the doses ahead of the January 16 rollout. In the first round, around 4 lakh healthcare workers will get vaccinated. One of the challenges for the administration is to ensure the mass vaccination drive doesn’t affect routine health services.
The state government is taking measures to ensure safe storage, transportation and delivery of vaccines with adequate police protection. It has to tackle rumour mongering, as well as ‘vaccine eagerness’ — a ‘mefirst’ rush to get the shot, said an official, adding that they are carrying out awareness drives on this.
