The deceased was identified as Irfan Khan, a resident of Gwalior's Purani Cantonment. A known history-sheeter, Irfan was deeply addicted to gambling, smack, and marijuana. His destructive habits strained his relationship with his family, leading to frequent arguments and conflicts, police said.

Frustrated with his son's addiction and its negative impact on the lives of family members, Hasan Khan hatched a plan to eliminate Irfan. He hired two contract killers, Arjun alias Sharafat Khan and Bhim Singh Parihar, for a fee of Rs 50,000, police said.

On Oct 21, Irfan Khan, a resident of Gwalior's Purani Cantonment, was lured by his father Hasan Khan to a secluded spot near the Badnapura-Akbarpur hill. There, the contract killers ambushed him and shot him dead, firing multiple rounds into his head and chest.

Following the murder, Gwalior police launched a thorough investigation. After interrogating numerous suspects and piecing together the evidence, they zeroed in on Hasan Khan. His suspicious behaviour and inconsistent statements raised red flags.

Upon further questioning, Hasan confessed to his involvement in the crime. He admitted to hiring the contract killers and setting up the ambush. The police have now launched a manhunt for Arjun alias Sharafat Khan and Bhim Singh Parihar, who are believed to be on the run.
