Bhopal: A case of negligence was registered against the operator of a farmhouse located in Gunga, following the death of a 20-year-old youth who drowned while swimming in a pool. The incident, which occurred during a wedding celebration, revealed lapses in safety arrangements at the venue.
According to police, the deceased, Ayan Khan, a resident of Kabitpura, ran an e-rickshaw. On May 29, Ayan went to attend the wedding of a friend's sister at a farmhouse in Semri Kalan village in Gunga. The venue has a swimming pool where Ayan, along with his friends, entered the water around 7 pm.
While using the water slide, Ayan slipped into the water and drowned. His friends pulled him out and rushed him to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
During the magisterial inquiry, it was found that the farmhouse operator, Rizwan Khan, rented out the property for the wedding but failed to provide basic safety measures in the swimming pool area, such as life jackets or lifeguards.
Due to this lack of precaution, Ayan drowned while swimming. Following these findings, Gunga police registered a case of negligence against the farmhouse operator.
The incident has raised concerns over the safety standards at privately operated recreational venues.
Police are continuing the investigation.
