BHOPAL: A German Shepherd dog lost its life while saving its owner from an alleged tiger attack in Umaria district, Madhya Pradesh.
This remarkable incident of a dog’s unwavering loyalty took place at a farm in Bharhut village, near the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.
Shivam Bargaiya, a local resident, said he was walking outside his house with his pet German Shepherd when a tiger emerged from the forest and entered the village.
“The tiger suddenly came towards me, but my dog immediately started barking and confronted it,” he claimed.
The unexpected aggression from the dog startled the tiger, causing it to hesitate. Moments later, the tiger turned its attention toward the dog and attacked.
In a desperate bid to protect its owner, the German Shepherd fought back. The tiger grabbed the dog in its jaws and began dragging it toward the forest.
However, after a brief struggle, the tiger, seemingly exhausted, released the dog and retreated into the jungle.
Despite its bravery, the dog sustained severe injuries. Shivam rushed his pet to a veterinary doctor at the district headquarters, but despite receiving medical treatment, the German Shepherd succumbed to its injuries a few hours later.
Villagers are praising the dog’s extraordinary courage and loyalty.
