Executive director of Ujjain Smart city to appear before new Lokayukta on March 27
BHOPAL: The executive director of the Ujjain Smart City has been summoned for a personal appearance by the newly appointed Lokayukta justice Sathyendra Singh in connection with the ongoing probe into allegations of scam in Mahakal Lok Corridor, sources informed.
The officer has been asked to appear on March 27 before the Lokayukta. Sources informed that the probe into this complaint had hit a wall following non-cooperation by some officers. Earlier blurred copies of bills and certain documents related to the Mahakal Lok Corridor project were submitted by the Ujjain Smart City officials before the organization stalling their probe.
The papers were of very poor quality and were not readable and they were asked to submit the same again. It wasn’t the first time. Similar papers were submitted before the investigating officer after which warnings were issued.
The technical team of Lokayukta had asked for measurement and other details of the project besides bills of payments made by them. A reminder was sent to the authorities in connection with the second complaint, adding to the ongoing investigation into three separate cases, including the collapse of saptarishi idols.
The first phase of the Mahakal Lok Corridor, costing Rs 316 crore out of the estimated Rs 850 crore project, was inaugurated on October 11, 2023. Following the initial complaint regarding alleged financial irregularities in the construction work, the Lokayukta had issued notices to 15 individuals, including the Ujjain collector and two other IAS officers.
