Jabalpur: An elderly man, who intervened to resolve a dispute between two individuals fighting with each other, was attacked by one of them with a sickle, leading to his death in Jabalpur district.
After receiving the information, police registered a case of murder and sent the body for post-mortem. The accused was arrested.
According to information from Chargawan police station, Maniram Markam and Bhagat Singh went to a gathering at the house of Jeevan Thakur in the village of Deori.
Kodu Lal was already present there. Around 2:30 pm on Thursday, after having tea and snacks, they were all sitting and talking.
During the conversation, a dispute arose between Jeevan Thakur and Kodu Lal, leading Kodu Lal to leave the house.
Thakur then chased after Kodu Lal with a sickle. Markam and Singh followed them to protect Kodu Lal.
In front of Shiv Prasad Thakur's house, they stopped Thakur, who then started arguing with them and attacked Singh on the head with the sickle.
The blow caused a fatal injury to the right side of Singh's head, leading to his death on the spot. The accused fled the scene after the incident.
Upon receiving the information, the police registered a murder case and dispatched a team to arrest the accused.
Within a few hours, the police took the accused into custody and recovered the sickle used in the crime based on his information.
