JABALPUR: A man driving under the influence of alcohol killed two people and seriously injured another in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district, police said on Wednesday.The incident took place around Tuesday midnight near Dhanvantari Nagar Chowk under the Gadha police station limits, an official said.According to City Superintendent of Police Ashish Jain, a 38-year-old man, Gopal Prasad Kumhar, and his 15-year-old son Shubham had come to the area to attend a wedding.While returning to their hometown Maharajpur, Gopal stopped his motorcycle near a shop to buy water.The father and son were standing near their bike when a speeding car rammed into them and a 30-year-old man, Pankaj Sahu, who had also stopped there with his two-wheeler, Jain said.Police rushed the injured to a hospital after being alerted, where doctors declared Pankaj and Gopal dead. Shubham remains in critical condition, he said.The car driver, a resident of the Ranjhi area, was sent for a medical examination, which confirmed he was drunk, the official said.A case of culpable homicide has been registered against the accused driver, who was later arrested, he added.
