Railways officials have attributed the loss to the fall in revenue of goods transport. This year Bhopal DRM earned Rs 436.76 crore, which was Rs 527.50 crore in 2017. This year, loss in goods transport was 17.20%.

PRO of DRM Bhopal IA Siddique said the loss was due to the ongoing third-line work. “We have recorded positive growth in earnings from passengers, coaching and sentry, but suffered loss in goods transport due to the ongoing third-line work,” said Siddique. He said that once the third-line work is completed, Bhopal DRM will also start recording positive growth in the goods transport revenue.

Bhopal DRM has made an earning of Rs 48.95 lakh by attaching extra coaches in different trains. From April 1, 2018 to November 30, 2018, DRM Bhopal attached 145 extra coaches. Besides, railways added 27 party coaches in different trains that have earned Bhopal DRM Rs 27.60 lakh.

In ticket checking, Bhopal DRM registered 3,23,013 cases which is 13.88% better than 2017. From these cases, earning was Rs 14.36 crore which is 15.47% better than previous year.
