DPI disagrees with panel take on ‘mismanagement’
BHOPAL: Directorate Public Instructions (DPI) disagreed with child’s panel assertion about mismanagement at the recently-concluded state level sports competition.
The DPI had earlier appointed the same officials for the 58th state level school sports meet, who were issued show cause notices. The meet is scheduled to be organized in Indore. Interestingly, the DPI has not received reply from the officials, so far.

When contacted, DPI joint director (sports), Sanjay Sharma admitted that same officials were given the responsibility again before receiving the reply. “It is true that the same officials have been deployed for the Indore sports meet. Until they are proved guilty, we can’t stop availing their services,” Sharma said.
Sharma went on to say the incident of mismanagement was not completely true. “All our officials are experienced. They have an experience of taking teams to several tournaments. I am not protecting them but the correct picture will come only after their reply,” Sharma said.
In all, Bhopal squad of 191 players and 21 coaches will participate in the 58th state level school sports tournament. Ganga Ram Yadav has been appointed as the general manager of the Bhopal team. DPI sought explanation from Yadav, who was the assistant general manager of Bhopal team when mismanagement incident took place at Bhopal railway station.
About Ganga Ram Yadav, Sharma said, “I have to receive his explanation. I hope he will submit it soon. Other coaches will also send the explanation soon to me.” Interestingly, the DPI issued show-cause on September 7 and asked them to submit their reply in next 7 days. The directorate even warned that any failure would invite actions against them.
The incident took place on September 6 when school players from Bhopal team were told to gather at the Bhopal railway station. The players were scheduled to leave for Jabalpur by Vindyachal Express. Later players were told that reservation could not be secured for them and hence they would now travel by the Overnight Express to Jabalpur without reservation. In the meantime players had to face several problems at the station.
