: An hour after talking to brother and family members over a video call, a 50-year-old Covid-19 patient killed himself by jumping off the window of Covid-19 ward of
Hamidia hospital
located on the fifth floor on Monday evening. He fell on the ground and sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.
Koh-e-Fiza police, however, reached the spot after getting information and registered a case. SHO Koh-e-Fiza Anil Bajpai said that Raees Sheikh, 50, a resident of Rehti town of Sehore district, was a carpenter. His two children are aged 2 and 3 years. After having problems in breathing, he was admitted to the ICU in D-Block of Covid-19 ward of
Hamidia
hospital on Sunday evening. Around 5.30 pm on Monday, he left his bed and jumped off the window of the Covid-19 ward.
Raees’s brother Asif, a resident of Mangalwara near

, told TOI that Raees suffered from fever and came to Bhopal for treatment. The family went from one hospital to another on Saturday night but couldn’t find a vacant bed. On Sunday, he was admitted to Hamidia hospital.
Asif said that he and his relatives stayed outside Hamidia hospital and had made video call to Raees an hour before the incident. He told them that he was having trouble in breathing. Around an hour later while the family was offering

, they received a call from the doctor that Raees jumped to death. Asif said that they will take legal action against the negligent management.
This is third suicide by Corona patient by jumping off the hospital floors in the city. A week back, Homeopathy doctor Devendra Malviya, a resident of

, allegedly killed self by jumping off the fifth floor of a private hospital in Khajuri area. Before him, a 60-year-old woman allegedly killed herself by jumping off the second floor of a government hospital in Bag Sewania locality on October 20, 2020.
