Post-BRTS Shocks Expose Poor Planning
Bhopal: Constructing bus stop after dismantling BRTS on the service road has left residents along Hoshangabad road fuming. The citizens said that the unplanned work has stopped the easy movement of their vehicles even to their homes in the affected colonies. And during monsoon, it will create more troubles. The decision to build bus stops on the service road after removing the BRTS has led to a heated debate among the residents of the area. Many people are expressing their concerns about the potential problems that these bus stops might cause, especially when it comes to the smooth flow of traffic in and out of the colonies. One of the main issues that the citizens are pointing out is that the presence of bus stops on the service road will make it difficult for vehicles to enter and exit the colonies smoothly. "This is because the bus stops will occupy a significant portion of the road, leaving less space for other vehicles to maneuver. As a result, there might be frequent traffic congestions and delays, which can be frustrating for the residents who need to commute daily," said Muskan Khan, a resident of Bairagarh. Moreover, the citizens are also worried about the problems that might arise during the monsoon season. "With the bus stops located on the service road, there is a high chance of waterlogging, which can further aggravate the situation. During heavy rains, the water might accumulate around the bus stops, making it difficult for people to access them and also posing a risk to the vehicles that are trying to navigate through the waterlogged areas," said another resident Yuvraj Kumar. The residents are also questioning the logic behind constructing bus stops on the service road, especially after the BRTS has been dismantled. Many people feel that the authorities should have explored alternative locations for the bus stops, which would not have interfered with the smooth movement of traffic. Some have suggested that the bus stops could have been built on the main road itself, while others have proposed the idea of creating dedicated bus bays that would not obstruct the flow of vehicles. The controversy surrounding the construction of bus stops on the service road has also raised concerns about the lack of proper planning and foresight on the part of the authorities. Many citizens feel that the decision was taken hastily, without considering the long-term implications and the potential inconvenience that it might cause to the residents. In light of these concerns, there is a growing demand from the citizens for the authorities to reconsider their decision and explore alternative solutions that would not compromise the ease of movement for vehicles and the safety of the commuters. Some have suggested that the authorities should hold public consultations and seek the opinion of the residents before finalizing any plans for the construction of bus stops.Overall, the controversy surrounding the construction of bus stops on the service road after dismantling the BRTS has brought to light the need for careful planning and consideration of the citizens' concerns before implementing any infrastructure projects. It is essential for the authorities to take into account the potential impact of their decisions on the daily lives of the people and to work towards finding solutions that are both practical and convenient for all the stakeholders involved.
