BHOPAL: Congress MLA from Chattarpur district, Neeraj Dixit, on Thursday issued an ‘ultimatum’ to the government to “face his agitation if development works in his area are not sanctioned”.
He alleged that chief minister
Kamal Nath and his ministers were being “misled” by the bureaucracy, causing problems to his electorate in Maharajpur constituency. The MLA was on a visit to Bhopal on Thursday to “pursue projects related to development of his region”.
“Harpalpur town in Chattarpur is facing acute water crisis for years.
Now that my party is ruling the state, I expect it to act fast and resolve the issue,” Dixit told TOI, adding: “Harpalpur is a tehsil but more than half of the population has not seen water running in their taps for two years though two dams on River Dhasan in neighbouring UP have plenty of water.”
The MLA accused bureaucrats of creating hurdles in development projects, including one for water supply in Harpalpur. “Ministers are cooperating but officials are misleading the government. Even in monsoon people are facing drinking water problem,” he said. “I am going back to my constituency but will soon be back. If this time the projects are not sanctioned, I will be forced to hold an agitation,” he warned.
Dixit and some other MLAs had earlier written to CM Nath to transfer the Chattarpur district collector. Local MLA Alok Chaturvedi said, “We want the collector to go as he does not respond to issues raised by people’s representatives.”
