CM distributes 25 cr among athletes to bolster their training
Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav on Wednesday disbursed ₹25.39 crore to 1,786 athletes, along with sports equipment, as part of efforts to bolster their training and development. The distribution took place during the 'Samman and Protsahan Samaroh of Sports Talents' at Tatya Tope Stadium.Reaffirming his govt's unwavering commitment to sports, Yadav said: "Sports have been integrated into the New Education Policy (NEP) to ensure career advancement for instructors. Sports teachers can now progress to roles like assistant professor in higher education. Direct transfer to athletes' bank accounts will empower them to train better and bring laurels to the state and nation."Reflecting on India's sporting legacy, he highlighted the remarkable achievements of athletes such as Major Dhyanchand, who excelled globally despite scarce resources. Yadav also emphasised the role of PM Narendra Modi in elevating India's international sporting stature, citing milestones such as four consecutive gold medals in wrestling.The CM's engagement with athletes added a personal touch, as he clicked selfies with participants, including wheelchair cricketer Shailendra Yadav. Sports minister Vishwas Sarang joined him for group photographs with the winners.The event honoured state-level gold medallists, including Himanshu Kushwaha, Yuvraj Rao Dhadge, Dhruv Dubey, Tilak Lot, Ujjwal Kumar Prasad, Anvi Khanduri, Shruti Pal, Rahi Pathak, Shreya Yadav, and Khyati Pandey across various disciplines.Sarang presented Yadav with a hockey stick signed by members of the Paris Olympics 2024 medal-winning team. He also announced Yadav's approval for govt sports complexes in every assembly constituency, crediting the CM's sporting background for his keen understanding of athletes' needs.The event was graced by Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai, MLA Bhagwandas Sabnani, and several other dignitaries.
