Class 10 boy drowns in Kerwa dam

A student of class 10 drowned in Kerwa dam and another student was saved and hospitalized on Saturday afternoon. A case was registered at Ratibad police station.

BHOPAL: A student of class 10 drowned in Kerwa dam and another student was saved and hospitalized on Saturday afternoon. A case was registered at Ratibad police station.
Eleven students, including nine of Sagar Public School (SPS) and two of Anand Vihar School had gone for a picnic on the day exams of Class 10 students of SPS ended and they were in a celebratory mood.

In all, 11 students left for four bikes, the police added.
The boy, Mandaar, 16, who lost life, was identified as a resident of E-7 Arera Colony and the one who was rescued as Shashank. Both from SPS did not know swimming.
Mandaar ventured into deep waters and Shashank tried to save him by going into water. But his friends managed to save him, students later informed the police. Mandaar’s parents reached the spot. The two of them were rushed to Hamidia Hospital where Mandaar was declared dead and Shashank is undergoing treatment.
Other students included Mukund, Tamanjeet, Naman, Abhishek, Shalin and Sameer of SPS and Bittu and Ansh of Anand Vihar. The latter two are students of Class 9.
After exam, students first went to Mandaar’s home from there they went to Bittu’s place and left for Kaliasot from where they went to Kerwa dam, police added. Mandaar’s father Vishwas Ved was president of Rotary Club East Bhopal. The family wanted to donate body parts, but could not do so due to formality. He was the younger son of his parents and his elder brother studies in Pune.
