BHOPAL: The city's VIP Road continues to be affected by disruptive actions from miscreants, causing inconvenience to the public. On Saturday, a video surfaced on social media showing three boys on a scooter dragging a traffic police barricade at Retghat Square. Police are attempting to trace the scooter's registration number using CCTV footage from various spots.
According to police, the video shows three men riding a scooter towards Kamla Park. When they reached Retghat Square, one of pillion rider grabbed a wheeled barricade and dragged it toward Raja Bhoj Bridge.
Eventually, he abandoned the barricade on the road. A passerby recorded the incident and shared it on social media, making the video go viral. As the video was taken at night, the scooter's registration number plate is not visible, and the youths remain unidentified.
Senior police officials have instructed a review of CCTV footages in the area to identify the scooter and pursue legal action against the suspects. This reckless act could have led to an accident, endangering other commuters.
Similar disruptive incidents on VIP Road have gone viral before. In previous cases, some men in a car littered a municipal flowerpot, and another video surfaced showing a young man urinating in the city's Upper Lake. Criminal cases were filed against the suspects in both instances.
