‘Chaddi-banyan’ gang targets retd Col’s house, steals Rs 50,000 & laptop

The notorious ‘chaddi-banyan’ gang, struck again with around half-a-dozen members sneaking into a retired colonel’s house in Chunabhatti area and decamped with laptop and Rs 50,000 cash along with other items. The accused were captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the house.

BHOPAL: The notorious ‘chaddi-banyan’ gang, struck again with around half-a-dozen members sneaking into a retired colonel’s house in Chunabhatti area and decamped with laptop and Rs 50,000 cash along with other items. The accused were captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the house.
According to Chunabhatti police, retired Colonel Sanjay Tripathi lives in Windsor Hills, Chunabhatti, with family.

His domestic help Ram Gopal Mishra said that on May 25 morning, he found the Colonel’s suitcase lying in the verandah near the parking lot.
Later, it was found that a laptop was missing. Cash of Rs 50,000 kept in the suitcase was also missing. The theft took place between 3am to 3.30am on Thursday.
CCTV footage showed about half a dozen miscreants carrying out the heist. The masked accused were wearing shorts and vests and were carrying arms. Two miscreants entered the house while others were seen standing outside the house.
Ramgopal said that in the neighborhood of the colonel’s house, a structure made up of bamboo sticks is tied up. The miscreants reached upstairs with the help of this structure and entered inside by opening the window of the balcony.
Both the miscreants who reached inside kept searching for the goods in the house for about half an hour, but they did not enter the Colonel’s room. No household items were disturbed, due to which the incident could not be detected in the morning. The incident came to light after the suitcase was found lying outside and when the footage of CCTV cameras were checked.
