Around six months back, he met the accused Samir Khan, who runs a car-broker shop in Hanumanganj area. He told Mayand that he deals in used vehicles. Mayand was looking for a used SUV for his brother-in-law. Few days later, Samir sent photographs of an SUV to Mayand which he forwarded to his brother-in-law. After getting approval from brother-in-law Mayand agreed to purchase the SUV for him. Samir quoted Rs 3.5 lakh as price for the SUV and asked him to transfer Rs 2.5 lakh immediately and the remaining payment on the delivery of the SUV. Mayand transferred Rs 2.5lakh into Samir’s account in December 2021 but he did not deliver the SUV saying that he was in Mumbai. He made excuses for many days. Fed up of delay when Mayand demanded his money back, the accused didn’t return. Mayand then filed a complaint with Hanumanganj police. tnn
