Bhopal: Drinking water supply has emerged as the most pressing concern for the city and surrounding districts as summer nears.
Legislators from across the Bhopal division flagged shortages and stressed the urgency of completing pending schemes to ensure relief for residents. At a review meeting held Wednesday, MLAs including Bhagwandas Sabnani (Bhopal South-West), Prabhuram Choudhary (Sanchi), Suryaprakash Meena (Shamshabad), Mohan Sharma (Narsinghgarh), and Vishnu Khatri (Berasia) voiced strong concerns about the recurring water crisis. They underlined that the problem intensifies every year with rising temperatures, leaving many areas dependent on irregular supply.
Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar Shukla, who chaired the meeting at the Commissioner's Office, directed officials to expedite group drinking water projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission and Tap Water Scheme. He asked collectors to maintain close coordination with public representatives and ensure timely completion so that households are not left struggling during peak demand.
