BHOPAL: Officers posted in the Chhatarpur district have petitioned the district collector protesting interference by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in official work. In their memorandum, submitted on Thursday more than two dozen officers, including three sub-divisional magistrates, 11 tehsildars and 8 naib tehsildars of Chhatarpur district have reportedly stated that they were facing hardship in discharging their duties, especially exercising their judicial powers due to political interference. “We are fed up with the ruling party – BJP’s leaders interference in discharging our duties. This is too much now. We can’t tolerate this anymore,” an official said.
The officials petitioned the collector after Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) vice president Pushpendra Singh threatened naib tehsildar Namita Khare with a dire consequence after she stayed some construction work of his supporter Kailash Prasad Mishra in village Bandhikala.
All the saffron party leaders have protested against Khare’s move at Chhatarpur tehsil office some days back also.
“I have ordered an inquiry into the complaint,” Chhatarpur collector Rahul Jain told TOI over phone. Lady SDM S Tiwari would probe the complaint; he said but didn’t specify the time limit of the inquiry.
Asked whether his subordinates have threatened to go on a strike after a week if no action is taken against the BJP leader, he said this wasn’t mentioned in the memorandum.
Neither Khare, nor Singh could be contacted after repeated calls. Khare didn’t take the call while Singh’s both cell phones – one - remained switched off while other was unreachable.
