26 out of 35: BJP sweeps SC reserved seats in MP

Bhopal: Electorate in seats reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs) voted similarly to voters in the rest of Madhya Pradesh, overwhelmingly supporting the ruling BJP, giving party 26 out of the 35 seats reserved for SCs. In the 2018 state assembly election, the BJP and the Congress were nearly evenly matched, with the Congress securing 17 seats and the BJP winning 18.Analyzing the outcomes in the seats reserved for scheduled castes, the Congress has claimed victory in four seats reserved for SCs in the Chambal region. The party emerged victorious in Ambah, Gohad, Dabra, and Bhander, while the BJP secured the Karera seat. However, as one moves to Guna and beyond, the BJP has overwhelmingly dominated the majority of seats reserved for SCs.Among the remaining SC seats, the BJP has emerged victorious in Guna, Bina, Jatara, Chandla, Hatta, Mangawan, Gunnour, Raogaon, Devsar, Amla, Pipariya, Sanchi, Kurwai, Berasia, Astha, Sarangpur, Agar, Sonkatch, Khandwa, Maheshwar, Sanwer, Tarana, Ghatiya, Alot, and Malharhgarh. tnn

Chhattisgarh: BJP leading in 23 seats, Congress ahead in 18 seats

Counting of votes in the Chhattisgarh assembly elections began with the BJP leading in 23 seats and the ruling Congress leading in 18 seats, according to the Election Commission. The elections, which had a voter turnout of 76.31%, were held in two phases on November 7 and 17. The counting process started at 8 am on Sunday with a strict vigil maintained by security personnel in the state's 33 districts. Postal ballots were counted first, followed by the counting of votes through EVMs in the presence of officials and political parties' agents.

Chhattisgarh Assembly polls: Congress leading on six seats, BJP on five seats

Initial trends show Congress leading on six seats and BJP leading on five seats in Chhattisgarh assembly elections. Congress candidates Phoolsingh Rathiya, Umesh Patel, Janak Dhruw, Ashish Chhabra, and Aditya Raj are leading. BJP's Kedar Kashyap is also leading. The halfway mark for the 90-member assembly is 46.
