BHOPAL: A 23-year-old bike-taxi rider, who sustained severe head injuries in a hit-and-run case in Kolar locality on Monday late night, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital on Tuesday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle is yet to be identified.
Investigating officer SI Shailendra Kushwaha said that deceased as Rahul Tomar hailed from Nazirabad and resided here along with his mother at a Gondipura village in Kolar. He worked as a bike-taxi rider.
SI Kushwaha said that on Tuesday around 1 am, when Rahul was returning home after finishing routine work, an unidentified speeding vehicle knocked him down near Bairagarh Chinchali, Kolar. “When locals spotted him lying injured close to his damaged bike, he was rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance and later cops were alerted,” said SI Kushwaha adding that initially he was unidentified but later he was identified through his bike’s registration number. CCTV Cameras installed close to the spot would be scanned to identify the accused driver.
