BHOPAL: City police registered four cases of online fraud in the past 24 hours. In the first case reported at Govindpura police station, online thugs duped an auto-rickshaw driver to the tune of Rs 15,000 after posting an advertisement to sell a scooter on an online website.
Govindpura police said that victim Mukesh Suryawanshi, is a resident of Bharti Niketan area.
The accused posing himself as an Armyman posted an advertisement to sell a scooter on an online website. When Mukesh contacted him the accused took Rs 15,000 from him in four transactions towards advance payment through an online payment wallet and then switched off the phone.
The accused also took Rs 4,000 from victim Jyoti Mishra, a resident of Shakti Nagar, on pretext of house rent and switched off his phone.
In Kolar, a 68-year-old man was duped by online fraudsters to the tune of Rs 39,499 after luring him on a fake cashback offer on an online payment wallet.
In yet another case, victim Suresh Chandra Gathiya, a resident of Mahabali Nagar, was duped by online fraudsters by sending a phishing link. In all the cases the victims filed a complaint with cyber-crime which were forwarded to police stations for further action.
