BHOPAL: After a part of the ramp collapsed at Bhopal railway station, a vendor claimed that he had informed officials about it on Wednesday, but nothing was done. Railway officials have rejected the claim.
Ramesh Singh, who runs a food stall under the ramp on platform number 2 said, "I went to meet the railway officials at 1.40 pm on Wednesday. Officials came with me to check my claim .
Had they acted on time, such accident could have been avoided." He added, "I informed the officials that a chain had opened up in the ramp. My staff also sustained bruises during the accident."
DRM Bhopal Uday Borwanker said the vendor's claim will be probed. "As of now I am told that there was not any formal communication by anyone. It would be probed whether there was any verbal communication," said Borwanker.
Later, in the evening, PRO IA Siddique released a statement that there was neither formal nor informal communication from the vendor. "This is a complete lie that the vendor had informed about any wear and tear in the ramp. We deny such claims by him. False claims are being circulated on social media," Siddique stated.
