BHOPAL: The operator and employees of a dog training center in Sahara Estate Colony, Misrod, brought a dog for training, and killed it by hanging it from an iron-grill gate using a leash and a rope. To conceal their crime, they deleted the CCTV camera recordings.
The dog owner, Nikhil Jaiswal, a liquor businessman, filed a complaint with Misrod police.
When the police seized the CCTV-DVR and, with the help of the cyber cell, recovered the data, the shocking incident came to light. A case has been registered against three individuals, including the operator and employees of the training center, under relevant sections concerning cruelty to animals. One of the accused is a woman. The video of the cruel act went viral on social media platforms.
The investigation revealed that Nikhil had sent his dog to the center for training in May 2023. The center's director, Ravi Kushwaha, initially quoted a training fee of Rs 13,000 per month, with the training set to conclude in September. However, on October 9, Ravi called Nikhil to report that the dog was unwell and was being given CPR at the center. Tragically, the dog did not survive, and the center's behavior raised suspicions, leading to a complaint.
The police investigation uncovered video evidence showing Ravi Kushwaha, along with associates Tarun Das and Neha (also known as Priya Tiwari), killing the dog by hanging it by its leash on a boundary wall gate on October 9, around 1:30 pm. After about 10 minutes of suffering, the dog passed away. All three accused have been arrested, and charges have been filed against them.
