Congress MP Shashi Tharoor

, journalist Rajdeep Sardesai and others under IPC section 153A (promoting enmity) for allegedly circulating fake news that the farmer who died during the tractor rally in Delhi was shot by police.


ASP Rajesh Singh Bhadouria said that the complainant, Sanjay Raghuwanshi of Kushal Nagar in Bhopal, is a farmer. Apart from Tharoor and Sardesai, those named in the complaint include Mrinal Pande, Zafar Agha, Paresh Nath, Anant Nath and Vinod K Jose.

Raghuwanshi’s complaint accuses them of posting ‘false and misleading tweets from their verified accounts’ during the farmers’ tractor rally on January

26. Their actions led to a grave threat to the security of the nation and placed the lives of people in Delhi and other parts of the country in danger, says the complaint.
