“Bhagoria Parv is celebrated in the entire tribal belt of Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Badwani and Khargone, but this time we have chosen Dhar district to organise cultural programmes at 50 haats. Nine groups with 135 artistes are visiting these haats in Dhar district and presenting some of the most popular and loved tribal dances of MP,” said the curator of Tribal Museum, Bhopal, Ashok Mishra.

Every day, people are enjoying colourful presentations of Saila, Gudum, Bhil, Bhadam, Thatya and other dances, which have been an integral part of tribal population for centuries. The most captivating aspect of the festival is colourful costumes worn by the dancers, which pep up the onlookers instantly, said the curator.

“During this festival, villagers visit the haats/ melas organised near them and enjoy the food, rides, games and ancient rituals that are associated with Bhagoria. Youngsters of every village dress up in colour-coordinated attire that makes them stand apart in a large gathering. The festival that will culminate a day before Holi, is getting an overwhelming response, which is heartening,” said Mishra.
