Batchmates record 18-year-old girl's obscene video while changing clothes in MP; 3 booked

BHOPAL: Three youths were booked for allegedly recording an obscene video of an 18-year-old girl while she was changing clothes in the washroom of a government educational institute in Ashoka Garden locality on September 17. The accused showed the video to the survivor's friend and demanded Rs 5,000.


The terrified girl went missing from her home on Thursday and was recovered by police within two hours from the railway station. She revealed the incident to her family members and approached Piplani police station on Friday to lodge a complaint. As the incident took place in Ashoka Garden locality, Piplani police registered a zero FIR and the case diary was transferred to Ashoka Garden police.

Police said that the survivor, a resident of Piplani locality, studies at an institute in Ashoka Garden area. She stated in her complaint that on September 17, when she was changing clothes in the girl's washroom before offering prayers on Vishwakarma Jayanti in the institute, the accused Rahul Yadav, Ayan and Khushboo Thakur, all batchmates, recorded her obscene video.

The survivor was unaware of their act. After recording the video, the accused approached the survivor's friend and showed the clip to him on their smartphone. They demanded an extortion of Rs 5000 or else threatened that they would share it publicly on social media platforms.

Police said that when the survivor's friend informed him about the video, the terrified girl kept mum as the accused started building pressure on her to pay the money. She had no money so she went missing from her home on Thursday. When her family members noticed that she was missing, they started searching for her and approached Piplani police to lodge a missing person's complaint. Police tracked her at the railway station within two hours. When they recovered the girl, she was terrified. When family members counselled her, she revealed the incident to them. Subsequently, they approached police on Friday to lodge a complaint.

Acting on her complaint, a case on charges of extortion and IT Act was registered against the accused at Ashoka Garden police station on Friday and further investigations are underway.
