Barwani all set for chacha-bhatija contest yet again
BARWANI: The
BJP has decided to rely on Prem Singh Patel, uncle of MLA Ramesh Patel, who is the Congress candidate for the seat.
Ramesh Patel, close to Ajay Singh ‘Rahul’, had stopped his uncle Prem Singh Patel’s ‘vijayrath’ and denied him his fifth win in a row in 2013.
He defeated his uncle by 10,527 votes. Ramesh has been given ticket again because he won the last election when things were not favourable for Congress.
Former municipal president and Congress leader Rajan Mandloi’s supporters had made a demand that Ramesh Patel should not be given another chance on grounds that he is ‘less educated’ and had filed his nomination as independent candidate.
Ramesh Patel said that after formation of Congress government, there will be ‘karj maaf, electricity bill half and BJP saaf ’.
He said that though Prem Singh is his uncle. it will not a difference as he has already won in 2013 by defeating him. He said that Congress still has a firm grip on the eloectorate in the area as in 2017 civic body elections, Laxman Chauhan (Congress) won the presidential post.
He said that Prem Singh era is over as he had lost both polls of Nagarpalika president and MLA elections. Patel said that his uncle should quit politics now or else he will be “sent him back to pavilion” after the results of the assembly polls come in.
Meanwhile, four-time MLA Prem Singh Patel (1993, 1998, 2003, 2008) said that the Congress MLA has done nothing in last 5 years and public is angry. He said that his nephew did not work for the public, so, this time, people will support the BJP.
